Hysteroscopic IUCD Removal (NL0031)

This video demonstrates the hysteroscopic removal of a forgotten Copper-T IUCD retained for 22 years in a 65-year-old woman with absent retrieval threads. The surgeon explains why forceful traction is likely to fracture the device and instead advocates a structured hysteroscopic approach. Using a 2.9 mm office hysteroscope and hysteroscopic scissors, adhesions around the cervical canal and internal os are carefully released to allow entry into the uterine cavity. The embedded transverse arms are then dislodged from the cornua before the IUCD is rotated into a vertical position and removed intact. The video provides valuable technical pearls for managing difficult retained IUCDs safely and effectively.
